The Problem of Truth in M.I. Karinsky’s Philosophy

Abstract

The article considers the problems of truth theory in philosopher and logic M.I. Karinsky (18401917) who represented spiritual-academic philosophy and science in Russian. Being the main subject of Karinsky's investigation logic was conceived as the theory of cognition. The philosopher researched the methodology of true conclusion and elaborated the theory of conclusion in his doctoral thesis (1880) giving priority to inductive methods of cognition. Karinsky was also the author of the doctrine of self-evident truth cognition which could be approached through intellectual contemplation and summarized the essence of real experience. Thus, Karinsky's theory can be viewed not only as purely logical but having its own ontology. Ontological logic in Karinsky's works was developed into logical- epistemological and historical-philosophical trend.
