Abstract
The article describes the essential features of a cognition system in which certain types of consciousness and knowledge are seen as forms of a single, organically evolving spiritual culture. The authors focus on the analysis of the historical development of this system, in which some forms of cognition of the existence come to the fore and act as dominants, while others go to the periphery and are affected by the first. The study concludes that the current state of cognition-system is characterized by a lack of distinct dominants, vague boundaries between different forms of cognizing the existence. These processes are particularly acute in the cultural context of contemporary Russia, which is caused primarily by the rethinking of previous sociocultural ideals and orientations.
