Conceptual systems of ecology and ecological arrow of time

Abstract

Ecology can be defined as the system of knowledge
that pursues theoretical substantiation and practical
preservation of existing variety of planet biosphere. The study
of the given variety with the purpose of its preservation and
use passes a number of stages which can be characterized
as conceptual systems of ecology. They are as follows: ecology
as a part of biological science, the formation of social
ecology and an ecological paradigm, the study of the process
of globalization and creation of engineering ecology. Each
conceptual system of ecology has its own ontology with a
number of base categories and, first of all, time category. Human
activity has led to the appearance of a new world with
specific existential characteristics. The basic feature of this
reality is accurately fixed irreversibility of all natural processes.
This irreversibility testifies to formation of a new phenomenon
- an ecological arrow of time. The ecological arrow of
time is as manifestation of a variety of processes caused by
human influence on physical, geological, chemical and biological
properties of biosphere. These processes might result
in such a quality of the biosphere at which human existence
becomes impossible or doubtful.
