The Problem of Assessing the Quality of Literary Works (Socio-Philosophical Aspect)

In this paper literature is characterized as a social phenomenon, which is a relatively independent element of the spiritual aspects of society. The study is based on versatile material describing the fiction from the standpoint of various branches of social sciences and humanities. Considering fiction as an element of the spiritual aspects of society, the authors make an attempt to solve the problem of its evaluation through the interactions with other elements of the spiritual realm. The studies are conducted with the use of philosophical methodology thus putting into practice the ideas of integration of social-humanitarian knowledge with rational development of the cognitive process through the combination of its elements (in the present case - artistic cognition).
