Статья посвящена анализу концепции современного американского автора А. Аппаду-раи, видящего в глобализации прежде всего культурный феномен. Мыслитель пытается доказать, что процесс культурной глобализации не сводим к манихейски упрощённой схеме навязывания гомогенной культурной модели (западной, американской) незападным цивилизациям. Повсеместно - особенно в самих западных обществах - можно наблюдать «диаспорическое разнообразие» и растущую культурную фрагментацию. Аппадураи утверждает, что решающую роль в этом процессе играют транснациональные миграции и аудиовизуальные СМИ.
The article deals with the analysis of the conception of Arjun Appadurai, modern American author, who basically considers globalization as cultural phenomenon. The thinker tries to demonstrate that process of cultural globalization cannot be explained by simplistic schema of obtrusion of homogeneous cultural model (Western, American) to non-Western civilizations. Everywhere - especially in Western societies - we can observe «diasporic diversity» and increasing cultural fragmentation. Appadurai argues that transnational migrations and electronic media play the crucial role in this process.
